First day of Summer!

Howdy farmers, welcome to the Bumpkin’s Almanac, your daily digest for the #1 Web3 game, Sunflower Land. This issue is for Monday, February 17th, 2025.

The plaza Buds decided to celebrate Valentine’s Day two days late!
Today is the first day of Summer! It’s the inaugural season, the first one that farmers have ever seen, and it promises to bring some old friends and new surprises around again. Here are the crops that you can grow this season:
Sunflower
Potato (Needed for basic Compost Bin)
Zucchini (New!)
Beetroot
Pepper (New! Also needed for basic Compost Bin)
Cauliflower (Needed for Turbo Composter)
Eggplant (Needed for Turbo Composter)
Wheat
Lemon
Orange
Banana
Animal farmers will be a little behind this season as they can’t grow any of their staple crops except for Wheat, but that appears to be the entire point of this whole Seasons mechanic. Creating scarcity encourages specialization and practically requires players to trade with one another. One player can’t just excel at everything (unless they pay for it, of course).
Among the new crops, Peppers are needed for the Compost Bin, while Zucchini are not, but don’t get rid of them just yet. Just because a crop isn’t used in a cooking recipe now doesn’t mean it won’t be later. Tomato and Lemon came out a long time before they were actually useable in cooking, and now they’re among the most powerful crops as far as XP goes. So hang on to them and see what happens!
Negative events this season include the Tornado, which damages crops and buildings, and the Insect Plague, which halves your crop’s yield. Still no details on how building damage works, but there will be two opportunities this week to find out. One of the event days is happening right now, and the other will happen on Thursday. So let’s see what we get!
That’s all for today! Be well, do good work, and farm on.
