Sixth Day of Autumn, and $FLOWER

Howdy farmers, welcome to the Bumpkin’s Almanac, your daily digest for the #1 Web3 farming game, Sunflower Land. This issue is for Saturday, March 1st, 2025.

Yesterday was a Random Event Day, and all farms participating were hit with a Tornado! Hopefully you had your Pinwheel ready. Fortunately the next Event isn’t until next Wednesday, and the worst that a Great Freeze can do is slow down your crops. You’ll still be able to do everything else. I’d still get a Thermal Stone to protect against it just in case!

Today we’re going to talk briefly about FLOWER, the new token that will replace our beloved SFL.

Rocket Man is ready to go to the moon! Fun Fact: There are only 20 Rocket Onesies in existence, and they aren’t tradeable. Talk about a premium item!

The developers have been reminding us of this for quite a while now, with multiple announcements on Discord, live streams, and other places. You can read all about the specifics of the change on the official Docs site, so I won’t go into much detail here. The important points are:

  • On March 24th (which just happens to be the first day of the next Autumn Season) you won’t be able to deposit or withdraw SFL to your game account anymore. Since one week later all the SFL in your account will be converted to FLOWER, you’ll want to make sure to get it all in there as soon as you can!

  • One month later, sometime in May, you’ll be able to buy Gems with FLOWER instead of having to convert your earnings in-game to POL or fiat like you do now. This will make things easier not only for players without compatible wallets, but also for animal specialists who feed their critters Gems directly instead of making Mixed Grain!

This isn’t the first time the game has changed the underlying currency, as SFL used to be the only transaction medium, used for buying everything from seeds to axes and tradeable resources. I’m told you used to be able to sell cakes directly for SFL in the wild olden days! Coins were added in April of 2024 as an economic control, with Block Bucks as the “premium” currency that were used for restocks and VIP Banners.

Then, in September of 2024, Block Bucks were converted to Gems, at a rate of 1:20. This helped enable smaller transactions, especially for restocks. You used to have to spend a whole Block Buck (averaging around 0.15 USD) to restock all the tools and seeds from the shops. Now you can choose to restock just your tools, seeds, or digging supplies separately, which saves a lot of Gems in the long run.

So, in short, change is nothing new around here, and I’m sure there will be more on the horizon. Just be glad the developers are actively invested in this game, instead of staying silent for months only to release lackluster new features.

That’s all for today! Subscribe via email or RSS to make sure you never miss an issue. Be well, do good work, and farm on.
