Fourth Day of Spring, and a Blood Moon?

Howdy farmers, welcome to the Bumpkin’s Almanac, your daily digest for the #1 Web3 farming game, Sunflower Land. This issue is for Thursday, March 13th, 2025.

Apologies for the lack of posts, it seems I clicked one too many eels and not enough Goblins in my last reward screen and the Goblins took over for a while. But here is another post:

Tomorrow is the second-ever Full Moon event, which means the three “Moon Berries” will be available for sale. Betty will sell one seed for each out of her store on your farm, though you can plant and harvest them any time. These special fruits are primarily used by high-level players on their upgraded Volcano Island, but can also be sold for a good amount of Coins or SFL.

The other major features of a Full Moon are an increased chance of catching Marine Marvels, which are rare and valuable fish that can usually only be caught with the Fishing Lure item paired with Gold. I’m also told that any Eggplant crops that are growing when the event begins will be made instantly ready to harvest, but we actually won’t be able to see this happen until May 12, since Eggplants are only plantable in the Summer Season!

Even more interesting than all of the above is that tomorrow is also a full lunar eclipse in real life, visible to most people in North & South America. The moon turns a reddish color, and is often referred to as a Blood Moon. Which doesn’t sound like it means much, until you look at this…

Chapter 8: Winds of Change

This is the banner showcasing the various features of the new Winds of Change Chapter, including the new crops, Volcano Island, and some of the new wearables (the four-part banner is my favorite!). It also has Raven, our favorite goth/witch Plaza NPC, with a very red-looking full moon over her head…

This graphic is under the heading for the Weather Events, and shows all of the different buffs and debuffs we’ve seen so far, including that red full moon icon again! So what exactly does it mean? At this point we haven’t heard any details from the developers, so it could be anything. It’s unlikely to be a negative event, like Blood Moons in some other games, mostly because there isn’t a way to protect against it, like with the other weather events. So it’s probably going to be positive. Let’s find out!

That’s all for today! Subscribe via email or RSS to make sure you never miss an issue. Be well, do good work, and farm on.
